Italian Vitis Database

An Italian Vitis database with multidisciplinary approach for the exploitation and the valorisation of regional genotypes.

Run in cooperation with other Italian institutions holding grapevine field collections, the project is aimed to the implementation and development of an on-line database reporting genetic and morphological profiles, cultural traits, and oenological properties of grapevine cultivars and accessions grown in Italy with national, regional and local relevance. The gathered information are addressed to scientists and breeders, grape growers and wine industries. Provided genetic data consist in SSR profiles of the 9 markers established for international use and of a set of around 15.000 SNPs recently developed in Vitis. The Institute of Sustainable Plant Protection contributes to the enhancement of the application platform, and to database implementation with data from more than 100 accessions (grape cultivars and clones).
