The Project aim is the genetic characterization of the grapevine cultivar Nebbiolo. Re-sequencing  the genome of 3 Nebbiolo clones will be the starting point for in-depth studies on some aspects having paramount importance: 1) the mechanisms acting in the relationship grapevine/phytoplasma, through the transcriptome analysis in Barbera and Nebbiolo plants healthy, infected by Flavescence dorée and recovered; 2) the interactions between the grapevine genetic biodiversity and the environment (climate, microclimate and soil, i.e. the “terroir”); 3) identification of clone-specific genetic markers. The project is carried out in collaboration with the Biotechnology Department of the Verona University and the Vignaioli Piemontesi S.C.A.
