Stefania Daghino

As a reseacher of the IPSP, my work is mainly focused on the characterization of mycoviruses, including those associated with ericoid and orchid mycorrhizal fungi.

Indeed, my research interest has been so far the study of the ericoid mycorrhizal symbiosis. I investigated the molecular basis of the fungus-host plant dialogue and the mechanisms of heavy-metal stress tolerance of the ericoid fungi (by comparative genomics, transcriptomics, biochemical and cellular biology approaches).

In the frame of the study of the fungal interactions with heavy-metal bearing matrices, I studied the mechanisms and the effects of the fungal weathering of minerals.
