Luca Nerva

My PhD project focuses on the interaction between marine fungi and their host viruses. I screened a fungal collection coming from the MUT and I’m working on viruses charcterization to understand their ecologicl role and to screen the possible biotechnological application.

I have been working on the interaction of fungi with others organism since 2010: in facts, for my undergraduate thesis I worked on Tulasnella calospora, a basidiomycetous fungus associated to orchid plants to form an endomycorrhiza. To further my interest in the biology of fungi, I spent 9 months internship in the Mycoteca Universitatis Taurinensis (MUT) screening fungi for enzymes of possible pharmaceutical interest.
